The earliest documented reference to The Sunderland Law Society is a report in The Durham Advertiser of the first Society dinner on 23rd October 1824. The report refers to the aims of the Society as the promotion of fair and liberal practice. To this day the Society continues to achieve this aim by providing support to its members. We are a vital link between local solicitors, The Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Training events are arranged periodically throughout the year assisting our members within the legal profession to comply with the SRA’s scheme for continuing competence. In addition we hold our 3 main events. Our annual Society dinner takes place in November with our Midsummer soiree in June. Our AGM is held during March where the officers and committee members are elected. All of our events are held at local venues.
If you would like to join us at any of our events please contact us for more information.
Membership is open to solicitors, lawyers and associates practising or living within the area and our annual fees are as follows:-
Lawyers – £20.00
Associates – £10.00
